The guided coach tour is a great introduction to the city. The tour begins 5 minutes from the city centre at Stratford House which is an Elizabethan mansion to talk about how and where the city began. We then enter the city from the East side so that we get the full panoramic view of St Martin's Parish Church and the new state of the art Bullring shopping complex with the iconic building of Selfridges.
The route includes most of the major buildings of architectural interest including St Chad’s and St Philip’s Cathedral, the Victoria Law Courts, the Town Hall, Victoria Square, the Council House, Art Gallery and Library. The tour then proceeds into the Jewellery Quarter which really emphasises why Birmingham was known as the city of a thousand trades in Victorian times.
Finally, the route includes Holloway Head to look at the Mailbox and Beetham Tower finishing along Broad Street – to see the `Golden Boys in the Golden Mile` looking at some of the more recent developments in the last 10 years such as the ICC, Symphony Hall and the National Indoor Arena. |
