More Canals than Venice!

Birmingham Tours provides private guided Birmingham walking tours for groups all year round. Our themed walking tours are conducted by qualified Heart of England Blue Badge guides so that you have the most informative, enjoyable and entertaining experience. The walking tours usually last approximately one and a half to two hours but we are totally flexible in terms of timing and starting point so that we fit in with your itinerary. Minimum numbers (usually around 25 people) or minimum charge applies.

Birmingham Canal Walk – More Canals than Venice!

A guided walking tour around the Silver Cross – starting from Gas Street Basin the walk encompasses the Old Turn Junction, Oozel Street Loop and the flight of Farmer’s Bridge Locks on the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal. Find out how the Duke of Bridgewater influenced the development of the canal network. Where was Birmingham’s first gas works? Can you find the site of Cadbury’s first chocolate factory and on the site of which restaurant was the first recording of the Archers made in 1951?

Link this walk with a visit to the National Sealife Centre and Ikon Gallery and enjoy a bite to eat in many of the local bars and cafes.

Steve Rainbow has created a film entitled `More Canals than Venice’ – 100 things you didn’t know about Birmingham
